        Hi Dheeraj

Why do you want to upgrade your drivetrain?

The Ninety One Defeatr Pro 29 is an entry level cycle for beginners. Changing the groupset will not change the character of the bike. You will needlessly spend money with not much to gain.

A better alternative is to enjoy this bike as is and when you are ready upgrade to a better bike. Maybe 6-12 months down the line.

        Hope this helps!

          Dear Admin,

considering its a 19kg cycle, heavy, I am not hoping any extra performance. the skillful gear set fitted by brand is, i believe, of poorer quality. in older days when Ninety one used to be Frog, the same model used to come with Shimano tourney set, and having ridden the both, i can obviously feel the riding difference.

the brand has now opted to go with some less known component for the reasons better known to them. Talking about existing gearset, it is causing lot problems while riding and requires derailleur tuning every after 3-4 rides, and i am loosing my confidence on them for solo rides.

hence i am looking for their replacements. I am not going for higher variants, of course.

            Hey

The reason which Ninety One and most other brands have started putting components from other companies rather than Shimano is because of the scarcity of parts globally.

The pandemic has caused a crazy spurt in demand the world over. And bikes and parts are in short supply.

Which is why you are seeing other brand drivetrains make their way onto the bike.

Even if you go in search of Shimano components to change, you will likely have to change everything. There MIGHT NOT be cross compatibility between brands. Which means you need to buy derailleur and shifters from Shimano.

Which again depends on whether it is available. And at what price. And will that price be worth it?

Have you tried getting your existing gears checked and tuned by a competent mechanic?
